Itinerary

DAY 1: Arrival in Marrakech

Your 10-day Morocco journey begins with a pickup from Marrakech Airport, followed by a short drive through the city. You’ll then be transferred to your accommodation for an overnight stay in a traditional riad.

After breakfast, we head west toward the coastal city of Essaouira. On the way, we’ll stop to visit an argan tree plantation and a local cooperative. If you’re lucky, you may spot goats climbing the trees! We’ll also pause for panoramic views before arriving in Essaouira—formerly known as Mogador—one of Morocco’s most charming coastal towns. You’ll have free time to explore the fishing port, stroll along the ancient ramparts lined with cannons, and wander through the atmospheric old medina. Overnight stay in Essaouira.

We return to Marrakech to explore its most iconic landmarks with a local guide. As one of Morocco’s historic imperial cities, Marrakech offers a wealth of culture and architecture. The tour includes the stunning 19th-century Bahia Palace, the beautifully preserved Ben Youssef Madrasa, the lively medina and its souks, the vibrant Jamaa El Fna Square, and the grandeur of the Koutoubia Mosque, the city’s largest.

We drive through the High Atlas Mountains and Tizi-n-Tichka Pass, stopping for panoramic views of breathtaking landscapes and Berber villages. Our next stop is the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and filming location for movies like Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and TV series like Game of Thrones. We’ll take a 40-minute hike to explore the kasbah and enjoy views from the top.

Next, we head to Ouarzazate, known as “The Gate of the Desert,” for free time at lunch. We then continue through the Rose Valley and the palm grove of Skoura before reaching Boumalne Dades for dinner and an overnight stay.

After breakfast, we continue through the scenic Dades Valley, stopping at a panoramic viewpoint. We then head to the Todra Gorges, a dramatic canyon carved by the Todra River, where you’ll have free time to walk and enjoy the scenery.

Passing through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, we stop for lunch before arriving at the golden dunes of Merzouga. Here, you’ll embark on a camel trek across the dunes, pausing to watch the sunset from atop a high dune. Then, continue to a luxury desert camp where you’ll enjoy dinner, Berber drumming, and dancing around the campfire. Overnight in the camp

An early wake-up is a must to witness the desert sunrise. After breakfast, return to Merzouga by camel or 4×4. The day is dedicated to exploring the Merzouga region, known for its dunes, wild lake, mines, fossils, and oases—perfect for outdoor adventures.

We’ll drive off-road to visit an ancient eyeliner mine, then meet local nomads in their handmade tents and share Berber tea. In Khamlia village, enjoy Gnaoua music and dancing, a tradition from Mali, Sudan, and Niger. After lunch, we’ll stroll through a palm grove before visiting the wild Lake Merzouga, also called Flamingos Lake. Dinner and overnight in a riad near the dunes.

After breakfast, we visit Rissani, the former capital of Tafilalet, famous for its traditional souk (lively on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays). Then, in Erfoud, we stop at a fossilized marble workshop.

We follow the Ziz River, pausing for panoramic views of the valley, and stop for lunch in Midelt or along the way. Next, we visit the Cedars Forest, home to Barbary macaques—feel free to feed them. Our journey continues to Ifrane, known for its cool climate, snow, and alpine-style houses, earning it the nickname “The Switzerland of Morocco.” Overnight stay in Fes with a free evening in the medina.

After breakfast, we begin our exploration of Fes, Morocco’s cultural and spiritual heart. The tour starts with a drive to the Royal Palace Gate, the historic Jewish Quarter (Mellah), Borj Sud fortress for panoramic views, and the Ceramic Village & School.

The walking portion takes you deep into the UNESCO-listed medina, one of the best-preserved in the Arab world. Highlights include Al Attarine Madrasa, the University and Mosque of Al Quaraouiyine (the world’s oldest existing university), and the colorful Chouara Tanneries. Return to your riad for rest.

After breakfast, we visit Meknes, the Ismaili capital, including Bab Al-Mansour, Sahrij Souani Basin, the Royal Stables, the granary, and the Moulay Ismail Mausoleum. After lunch, we head 30 km to Volubilis, Morocco’s best-preserved Roman ruins and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for its mosaics, pillars, and archways.

We then travel north through Ouazzane to reach Chefchaouen, the famous Blue City in the Rif Mountains. Enjoy the evening exploring its charming blue-painted streets. Overnight in a local riad.

After breakfast, we drive through the scenic Rif Mountains to Tangier Airport, marking the end of your 10-day Morocco tour. Depending on your flight time, you may have free time to explore Chefchaouen or take a short tour of Tangier.
