Your 8 day Morocco desert tour begins with an early pickup from Marrakech airport or your accommodation. We drive through the spectacular High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, with several stops to admire panoramic mountain views and Berber villages.
We visit the historic Telouat Kasbah, once the stronghold of the powerful Glaoui family. Afterward, we continue to the legendary Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s most famous fortified villages. This kasbah has featured in films such as Gladiator, Alexander, The Mummy, and the TV series Game of Thrones.
In the afternoon, we continue to Ouarzazate, known as “The Gate of the Desert”. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.
After breakfast, we explore Ouarzazate, starting with a visit to the famous Atlas Film Studios and the historic Taourirt Kasbah, one of the most impressive mud-brick fortresses in Morocco.
We then drive east toward the palm groves of Skoura to visit the beautifully preserved Amridil Kasbah. Continuing through the Rose Valley in Kalaa Magouna, famous for its annual Rose Festival in May, you’ll learn about local rose-based products such as perfumes, rose water, and cosmetics.
In the afternoon, we reach Dades Valley via Boumalne Dades, stopping at the famous “Monkey Fingers” rock formations and panoramic viewpoints overlooking the valley. Dinner and overnight in a riad in Boumalne Dades.
After breakfast, we drive to the spectacular Todra Gorges, where the Todra River has carved a dramatic canyon with towering red cliffs. Enjoy free time to walk through the gorge and admire the scenery.
We continue through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, stopping for lunch along the way. In the afternoon, we arrive in the Merzouga Sahara Desert.
Here, you switch to camels for a memorable trek across the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Stop atop a high dune to watch the magical desert sunset before continuing to your luxury desert camp.
Enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner, Berber drum music, and dancing around the campfire under a vast starry sky. Overnight in the desert camp.
Wake up early to witness a breathtaking sunrise over the Sahara dunes. After breakfast, return by camel or 4×4 to Merzouga village.
Today is dedicated to exploring the Merzouga region. We drive off-road to visit an ancient eyeliner mine, then meet local nomads in their traditional tents, learning about their lifestyle while enjoying Berber tea.
Next, we visit Khamlia village, home to the Gnawa people, where you’ll enjoy traditional Gnawa music and dance. After lunch, stroll through a palm grove and visit the seasonal Merzouga Lake, also known as Flamingos Lake.
Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel in Merzouga.
After breakfast, we depart the desert and visit Rissani, the ancient capital of Tafilalet, known for its lively traditional souk. We then continue to Erfoud to visit a fossil workshop, famous for fossilized marble.
Driving along the Ziz Valley, we stop for panoramic views before lunch in Midelt. In the afternoon, we visit the Cedars Forest, home to the Barbary macaques.
We then explore Ifrane, often called the Switzerland of Morocco for its alpine architecture and cool climate, before arriving in Fes for overnight.
After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Fes, Morocco’s cultural and spiritual capital. The tour begins with visits to the Royal Palace gate, the historic Jewish Quarter (Mellah), and panoramic views from Borj Sud.
Continue with a walking tour inside the UNESCO-listed Medina, visiting highlights such as Al Attarine Madrasa, Al Quaraouiyine University, and the famous Chouara Tanneries. Return to your riad to relax.
